Ok, everything so far looks good, the budget is reasonable and I agree that we should pay the actors. Crew looks solid as far as I can see. One thing though, I know we're trying to keep this "in the family" as far as crewing goes from the board, but can I bring my own A.D.? First refusal goes to someone from here, but if there are no takers then I have a solid guy to work with who is available.

I'm gonna go ahead and call it for 2nd July if that's ok with everyone? Ive blocked out that weekend and the following one in my diary. Any problems, let everyone know.

Read the script, I like it! Nothing too fancy but it's good and solid and easily doable in 1 day. If nobody minds, I may tinker with some of the dialogue (I'm a dialogue man you see) but i'll put it up for peer review so nothing is locked down yet at all.

Storyboarding is going to be vital, so I'd like to get moving on that ASAP. Assyrix, do you have any pictures or sketches of the location? I could do with any you have to get "visualising" (I hate that word, but it's the best one to use).

Kigo, are you London/The South based? I think it would help if you, Assyrix, Chance, and I could sit down and thumbnail sketch some stuff out soon. Then you'll have plenty of time to make the final drafts and distribute them before we shoot.

Assyrix, are you based in Greenwich? It's just round the corner from me if you are! Anyone else London/Home Counties based? Ping me an email if you wanna meet for beers/non-sensical film discussion/serious project discussion. My weekends are free all this month. Book now.

I'm living on Old Kent Road in London and can easily put up 1 or possibly 2 people for the weekend for anyone travelling down to the shoot.

I'll pledge ?100 to get started, could maybe scrape some more up if we're short nearer the time. Anyone else?

Brooks, you don't have to be on set, but I think it would be helpful. I don't like to shoot a lot of coverage and will pretty much just batter through the storyboards on the day. Most of the technical directing will have been done beforehand in discussion with the DOP, Cameraman, actors, and storyboard artist. But, I think it would be really good if you could make it (Always nice to meet people anyway!) as I like having editor input at every stage. It can save a lot of arseing around afterwards if we screw something up!

Here's something to ponder. What are we going to call ourselves? Let the debate begin...

Ha ha! The South or London? Erm...get together...may be a problem there!!!

I'm in Liverpool right now, but will be living in Spain in about two weeks!! I will be living pretty much as a bum until September and so will have lots of time to devote to this project. I work pretty fast anyway so there shouldn't be any problems with the workload, i hope. I will be purchasing some web space pretty soon, and so with the help of Vertino will be able to stick any Boards on there for you to get access to.

After sketches, my rendering is all digital and so will be of high quality for printing out ahead of the shoot. This also allows me to change anything very quickly as each image is usually made up of several layers.

I'll send you an example page of work as soon as i can plug my pc in (don't ask). You can then use paint or whatever to write draw over with a big red pen any changes you want to make or notes of how you feel the shot should be.

If this is gonna be too much hassle for you guys, let me know and I'll pull out now before I get too involved. Rest assured though, I would like to be involved in this.

jb: Tinker with the dialogue all you like. You're the director and I am not fussy if you wish to change the script.

kigo and jb: Best thing is to get in touch so you can sort things out directly regarding storyboards. Me or jb will take a couple of pics this weekend so you have an idea what the property looks like.

One thing I forgot to budget for is the audition. I could probably do it in a bar of a mate of mine (don't like doing auditions in a private property) and get away with only paying for what we consume there during the audition.

Actors: I was originally planning to use black actors for the couple and a different ethnic actor for the part of the bum. Is that okay?

31st March 2005: Project-specific bank account (actually, let's make this a savings account 'coz it's free) will be opened by me, details will be given to all crew members, all monies will be paid into this account as well all costs will be deducted from this account. This will be an internet-only bank account and all members will receive a password to access the account and monitor the cash flows (I hope this is possible). Any remaining cash after the end of the production will be redistributed to the members and the account will be closed.

Alternatively, I can receive payments on my credit card via paypal.

Let me know if you have any different ideas
regarding financial arrangements.

1st April 2005: Adverts for the actor's parts will be posted on talentcircle.co.uk and mandy.com

16th April 2005: Auditions will be held. I will need at least three other people (one of them female) to be present.

17th April 2005: Roles will be assigned and rejection / acceptance letters will go out to all actors who came to the audition.

1st June 2005: Storyboards will be finished and blank tapes will have been aquired (2x44min DigiBeta). If we require only one tape I will keep the other tape and pay back the purchase monies into the account.

Anything I forgot?

I'm open for alternatives. What would you suggest?

Better idea: since the biggest item in the budget is the payment to the actors we all come to the shoot and bring cash. We pay the actors there and then after the shoot as well as for the tapes and insurance (which I will lay out in advance). Whatever is left (around ?100 from all of us, including myself) I will take to pay the transfer fees.

This will give everyone involved a maximum exposure of around ?10. We might even be able to do away with that if jb manages to blag a free transfer from one of his contacts. Also this saves me the hassle of setting up an account and gives you peace of mind that the money is well spent.

Kigo/jb: I will post pictures of the location hopefully by tomorrow so you may have a better idea about the flat and its surroundings.
